The Early Years Learning Framework

Our learning programs are informed by the following two approved learning frameworks: National Early Years Learning Framework & Victorian Early Years Learning Framework

The Early Years Learning Framework

The Early Years Learning Framework provides a powerful and positive baseline. Its principles, practices and learning outcomes support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years, as well as their transition to school.
The Early Years Learning Framework (ELYF) is a vision for children’s learning characterised by Being, Belonging and Becoming.

The framework helps to ensure your child receives quality education within their childhood setting through play-based learning. The framework is used in partnership with families, children, and educators, to develop learning programs responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.

By using the framework, we, as educators, can guide your child’s play by carefully designing learning activities and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.

The Victorian Early Years Learning Framework

The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) adopts a comprehensive approach to children’s learning and development. The VEYLDF recognises health as a crucial enabler for learning and development from birth. It does this by supporting all early childhood professionals to work together and with families to achieve common outcomes for all children.

The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) focuses on early experiences and learning from birth and gives best practice advice to early childhood professionals on ways to support children and families through the first eight years of a child’s life

The VEYLDF offers a shared language that helps early childhood professionals work more effectively with other professionals and families in a range of early years settings and programs.

The Victorian Framework recognises that children’s learning and development takes place in the context of their families, and that families are children’s first and most important educators. Families provide children with the relationships, the opportunities and the experiences that shape their learning and development.

Informed & Relevant Learning Programs

At Little Dreamers ELC we understand children begin their learning journey from the moment they are born and the first eight years of a child’s life is considered fundamental in establishing core values, sense of identity, and self-worth. We believe parents and families are the first educator and our role as Educators, is to facilitate a collaborative and supportive approach throughout your child’s developmental and learning journey.

Our aim is to provide children with a high quality early childhood education so as to give them the best chance to develop to their fullest potential in these formative years. Our programs are designed to stimulate physical, intellectual, social and emotional development and have a strong emphasis on learning through play.

We cater for children’s individual abilities, interests and needs. Our program offers experiences to increase children’s awareness and appreciation of different cultures and to foster pride in the cultural heritage of both themselves and others.

Accredited Kindergarten Program

Under the guided wing of our Early Childhood Teacher, the kinder group develop their independence, self-help, social and academic skills in a structured and supportive environment. Our innovative and emergent programs allow the children to contribute to the development of the curriculum, which is guided by individual and group interests. In support of the learning outcomes we seek for every child, the kinder group also participate in many intentional teaching experiences throughout the year, such as water safety, road safety, school readiness, literacy and numeracy projects, cooking, pet awareness responsibility, health and hygiene, and many more.

Learning Portfolios

At Little Dreamers ELC your child’s development, routines and daily activities are recorded for you to enjoy and share. As part of our daily practices, we record information and observations that are designed to not only keep you informed, but to further extend on your child’s abilities, interests and strength.

Regular documented learning is provided in the form of: Daily Communication Book, Daily Reflection, Group & Individual Learning Stories, Developmental Portfolios, Group/Wall Displays and Parent and Education interviews.
